The Genusshotel with its own wine cellar in the middle of the Carinthian Nockberge mountains houses around 300 carefully selected bottles in its stylish brick vaults. 50 different white, rosé, red and sparkling wines delight wine lovers on the wine list, which has been put together with thought, extensive knowledge and enthusiasm.
Worth knowing about wines

Tuesday at the Hotel Almrausch is all about fine wines. The culinary surprise of the day is the wine tasting in the cellar of the Genusshotel, with which host Josef Juritz, wine and cheese sommelier, delights his guests every week. In the rustic ambience, surrounded by bricks and dark bottles that hold the most delicious wines, you will learn all kinds of interesting facts about wines and their growing regions, about grape varieties and the interplay of soil, weather and cellar techniques. Eight to ten red and white wines are presented and commented on each week: Discover together the bouquet, pepper and finish of Austrian and international gustotröpferl! The tasted wines can all be found on our wine list as well, so feel free to order them in the restaurant with your meal in the days to come.
Price for the weekly wine tasting including 10 wines and cheese tasting per person € 35,--
In addition to the selection of bottled wines, the wine list also lists recommendations for many a fine wine served by the glass.

Cheese not only closes the stomach, but complements the character of any wine or stands in interesting contrast to it! Cheese sommelier Josef Juritz serves up a plate of different hard and semi-hard cheeses during his weekly wine tasting and recommends a combination or two.

Apart from the weekly fixed date for wine tasting, you are welcome to arrange a tasting on other days. For groups of ten or more, we can host your very own private cellar experience - ideal for an enjoyable evening with friends, a company outing or a surprise for a celebrant!

Host and Sommelier Josef Juritz
His love for wine.
The passionate wine lover doesn't have to think long: his favorite is Sauvignon Blanc. The fruity white wine, one of the noblest grape varieties in the world, pleases nose and palate equally. Green fruits, currant leaves and elderberry characterize its incomparable bouquet, and its aroma harmonizes with numerous dishes from cuisines all over the world. Perhaps one reason why Sauvignon Blanc is grown not only in its original homeland of France, but on several continents. Josef Juritz passed the sommelier exam in 1992, followed a year later by the cheese sommelier with distinction. And in 1994 he went one better with the serving master. It all depends on the temperature: Pearls in the hotel with its own wine cellar. Josef Juritz is convinced that the best wine is no good if it is stored incorrectly, served too cold or too warm. To ensure that all his favourites reach the glass at the right temperature, they are brought to the right temperature in the wine fridge in the restaurant.
